It was a great lunch with 66 members, partners and friends attending. Just look at the table with all the raffle prizes. Many thanks to Jan for her superb organising. Another very successful gathering. Three members of the PDB attended the funeral of Captain Brian Tarr, OBE, at St Mary and St Gabriel Church, Stoke Gabriel, Devon. The ancient church was full. Brian was born in Paignton, Devon in 1946. The family moved to Stoke Gabriel when Brian was 11. He followed his father into the RFA when he was 16, and served in most classes of RFA. He was married in 1969 to Jane, and they had two children, Adair and Rachael. His daughter, bravely, gave the eulogy at the funeral. Brian retired in 1996, his last ship RFA RESOURCE based in Split. After retirement, he became active in the local community. He was Chairman of the local Parish Council, only giving up in September. He was a school Governor, but his main hobby was his garden and he was an active member of the Horitcultural Society. |
